Crazy

I'm still here! And I'm still with it. :D

So as I posted about last time, my routine is still kinda changing to what I feel like I can handle for an extended period. I've pretty much stopped with the label reading, since a lot of the things I'm eating are fresh don't have labels, which makes guessing a big pain in my big ass. I'm still watching what I eat, though; I've been getting hassle from my mom about wanting to shift to much more healthy/natural alternatives to what we're eating. So when that insistence is ignored, I just have smaller portions.

Exercising is still on course, thankfully. The weather lately, though really rainy, has been delightful, so I've added night time walks around the neighborhood. I figured out how to cheat the Wii, too, so I'm able to mostly use the Fit Balance Board when I'm exercising inside.

Something I noticed today, though, that prompted me to update: There was a time, not very long ago, where I wouldn't even really think of touching vegetables. As far as I was concerned, I was fully carnivorous. Today, though, as a reward for a good work out, I'm treating myself to some broccoli. And it's delicious. Crazy! :D

Lazy sets in

So I have a confession. I've been slipping lately.

I've gotten out of tracking my intake. It always feels like such a chore, having to figure out how much of what is in everything I eat. It also feels like a chore having to measure absolutely everything.

But really, that's all I've been slipping on. I haven't changed what I eat or how I eat it. And I'm still exercising. I even got my Wii balance board working, so I can add Wii Fit to the rest of my exercise. I'm trying to find a power cable for my PS2; once I have that, I'll add DDR on top of all that. THAT was always a helluva cardio workout. It's no capoeira, but it was still pretty good.

One good thing is my mom is definitely all for keeping at least frozen fruit stocked, so I'll have something healthy to snack on. That's about it for her, though. Everything else is a matter of limiting portions, considering how wildly unhealthy it probably is. Example: earlier this week I made what has become known as "chili chops" - pork chops with chili poured over top, then baked. We used Hormel chili, made with turkey meat, and it was delicious. Tonight was flounder. I fresh-ground black peppercorns with a little allspice and coriander, and rubbed the fillets with that and some sea salt. I put 2 lemon quarters on each piece, as well as some clementine zest. It, too, was delicious, and probably quite a bit healthier than the pork chops.

I'm also out of "milk". I had almond milk, coconut milk, and rice milk, in an effort to find an alternative to regular 2%. The almond had the lowest calories, but more sodium than 2%. Coconut milk was a decent medium, and fairly tasty. And the rice milk was barely any better than 2%. During this taste testing, though, I upped my water intake a bunch, as per suggestion. I'm averaging 96oz now. I was adding apple cider vinegar to the first 64oz, but I've even gotten out of that habit. It tasted fine, but that, too, became a chore. Plain filtered water tastes just fine.

Measures taken.

An update! I'll probably do updates like this much more often than typing them out.

In case it's difficult to hear on the video:

I went shopping with my aunt (whose husband recently dieted and lost 100 lbs). I picked up some organic coconut oil and apple cider vinegar (with the mother). The day after she left, I went back and picked up a BUTT load of V8, some almond milk and coconut milk (both SILK brand), and some all natural snacks. I'll take pictures of labels and nutrition info and post those, too.

EDIT: And here they are! :D
